Amanda Whitehead

Kerikeri has been my home for over 40 years. I grew up in a family of eight children, which helped develop a strong appreciation for the meaning of home, family, and belonging—values that continue to inspire my work today.

I create handcrafted wooden homes from reclaimed timber offcuts that would otherwise be discarded. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and individually made, celebrating the beauty of recycled materials while capturing the warmth, comfort, and memories that the idea of “home” evokes. No two homes are exactly alike, with each one telling its own unique story.

Alongside my wooden creations, I am also a mixed-media artist whose paintings explore landscapes, seascapes, architecture, and abstract interpretations of place and emotion. My work is often inspired by the sense of peace, connection, and belonging that certain places can bring.

Whether through paint or timber, my aim is to create pieces that bring joy, encouragement, and a sense of peace.
