Tracie Lark

Tracie Lark is an Australian poet and writer who calls Whangārei home.
She is a trained secondary teacher (English, History, Bahasa Indonesia) and occasionally teaches poetry and microfiction writing workshops for the NZPS and the NZSA.
Tracie completed her Masters in Arts/Writing in 2026 from the University of New England.
Her latest published book of poetry called 'in quiet winds we settle' was released June 2026 in Whangārei.
Her short story Boneyard was shortlisted for the Newcastle Short Story Award and she won 3rd place for her flash fiction story Mind Your Head in the Whangārei Libraries Flash Fiction Competition 2024. Her short story The Vending Machine placed third in the New Zealand Society of Authors Northland Open Short Story Competition 2024 and her short story Wvfloof Wvfloof Creek was published in takahē literary journal T113, April 2025. Tracie has also been a regular contributor to Flash Frontier.
Some of her words have been performed in theatre, including at the Melbourne Fringe Festival and on ABC radio in Australia. Tracie’s poems Hell’s Gate and My Elegant Hoon are published in The Blue Nib Literary Journal, her poem Ancient Beauty is presented in the Earthwords & Artlings Anthology, and Burn and Twirl features in Curiouser Magazine’s inaugural issue. Tracie is an avid contributor of Northland’s poetry anthology Fast Fibres. Her poem There’s A River Inside Of Her was commended in the 2022 NZ Poetry Society Open Section.
