Some moments are so beautiful you can't move. This was one of them - an afternoon on Ruakākā Beach, looking across the water to the Whangārei Heads. This is Good Hope. Each one beautiful on its own - but together? Something else entirely. The whole so much greater than its parts. And out on the water, a little yacht heading home. That's Good Hope - my Dad's boat. I've sailed those waters so many times, and standing there I imagined us cruising back in after another adventure up the coast. When I painted it, I wanted it all woven together - the sea flowing up into the land, the land lifting into the sky, the water curling up to the beach. I used the koru to carry one thing into the next. Holding it all as one whole, beautiful moment. And that's what I hope it gives you. Hang it where you'll see it often, and let it lift your heart the way that afternoon lifted mine. If this coast holds a memory for you - a summer, a boat, someone you love - my hope is it brings that feeling back for years. There's only ever one Good Hope.
